Who is eternal life for?  Who, you say?  YOU!, that’s who!

Yes, you.

Do you feel unworthy to be the recipient of such lavish love and mercy? We are all unworthy. But God is anxious for you and me to have His gift of eternal life. Jesus made the supreme sacrifice in order for us to have it.

So, eternal life is for who? It’s for you!

Jesus said in the gospel of John, chapter 10, verses 27 to 28, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand”.  Also, in John, chapter 8 in verse 51, Jesus says, “I tell you the truth, if a man keeps my word, he will never see death.”

God has testified about his Son. “And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life”. That is verse 11 of chapter 5 of the book of I John. Wait, the previous verses quoted above says that Jesus gives eternal life. This verse says God gives eternal life. What gives? Is it Jesus or is it God that gives eternal life? Well, here’s the deal: Jesus and God are one. Jesus said so in John chapter 10, verse 30.

I and the Father are one.”

There is another “Who?” question that needs to be answered. Who has made this eternal life available to the likes of you and me? JESUS! That’s who! Read these verses:

John 6:40  “For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the SON and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day”.

John 6:47 “I tell you the TRUTH,  he who believes has everlasting life.”

John 6:68 “…you [JESUS] have the WORDS of eternal life”.

John 8:51 “….if a man keeps my [CHRIST’S]WORD, he will never see death.”

John 17:2-3 “For you granted him [JESUS] authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him”.

Rom. 6:22-23 “But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in[b] CHRIST JESUS our Lord”.

Who makes it possible to have eternal life? Jesus! Who freely offers eternal life to you? Jesus!

In review, to find verses in the Bible, it is important to know how to read their reference or their address as it were. Verses are listed first by the name of the book, for instance John. Then the chapter is listed, for example chapter, 6. Then the number of the verse is listed, number 47 for instance. So it would look like this: John 6:47  book, chapter:verse.
